Wind-Power Projects in the U.S. by Size and Location

Wind speeds over 6.9 meters-per-second (Class 3-7) are considered to be commercially viable at the utility scale. Research suggest that wind power could provide 40 times more electricity than is needed worldwide. This U.S. map shows average wind speeds at a height of 80 meters (260 feet).
