UNFCCC Releases Summary of Climate-Related Technology Transfer

Climate Change Technology Innovation in Annex I Nations

TheUNFCCC  has published an advance summary of the final report on “Performance indicators to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of the technology transfer framework.”  The advance summary describes how 40 performance indicators for technology transfer were developed and applied to the technology transfer framework. The key conclusions described in the summary are:

  • Main constraint is availability of adequate data
  • Causality must be central focus
  • Stakeholder involvement is key to the legitimacy
  • Need for capacity building to institute monitoring and evaluation systems nationally and internationally

The full report will be considered at the 31st sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice and Subsidiary Body Implementation (SBI), to be held from 7-18 December 2009, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
