The New Frontier in Solar Energy - Hybrid Solar Lighting
September 21, 2008 – 4:26 pmHybrid lighting is a new frontier in solar energy. The U.S. Department of Energy has pioneered the new technology at its Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. Unlike conventional solar technologies, hybrid lighting does not convert sunlight into electricity. Instead, hybrid lighting uses sunlight into optical fibers that carry the light inside of buildings to hybrid light fixtures, which combine hybrid and electric lamps to keep rooms lit around the clock.
